The 2025 Taiwan UAV Creative Design Competition, organized by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was hosted by the Department of Aircraft Engineering at National Formosa University. The competition was held on October 18 at the lobby and flight runway of the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center. Originally launched in 1999 as the National College UAV Design Competition, it has a 26-year history. Between 2012 and 2014, participation peaked at 90–95 teams. Due to declining student populations, the number of teams gradually decreased after 2015. In 2024, 17 teams participated, and in 2025, the number slightly increased to 23 teams.

This year’s competition was divided into two categories: the DIY Flight Group and the Competitive Flight Group. The DIY Flight Group focused on the design, construction, flight performance, and creativity of fixed-wing UAVs. The Competitive Flight Group emphasized multi-rotor UAV development and mission flight competitions. A total of 20 teams participated in the DIY Flight Group. Due to higher system integration and technical requirements, only 3 teams joined the Competitive Flight Group nationwide. Thanks to favorable weather and flight conditions, the morning session completed all DIY Flight Group events, and the afternoon session completed the Competitive Flight Group competitions and DIY Flight Group design report evaluations. NFU Aircraft Engineering Department’s “Crispy Plane” team won 1st place in the DIY category; “Baseball Team” won 1st place in the Competitive Flight Group; “Little Tiger Team” won 3rd place in the Creativity Award; and “MoonFlyer Team” received an Honorable Mention in the Design category.
