This project explicitly aligns with the strategic development of the UAV industry, designating the "Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center" in Puzi City, Chiayi County, as the hub for intelligent UAV research and development. Complementing this, the "World-Class Aircraft Maintenance Hangar" at National Formosa University’s (NFU) Yunlin High-Speed Rail (HSR) Campus serves as the primary field for practical aviation maintenance training. The project’s central objective is to focus on domestic UAV talent cultivation and the seamless integration of industry-academia technology to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial application.
Building upon the university’s previous success in implementing the Aviation Maintenance Pseudo-Production Line and the Ministry of Education’s Technological and Vocational Education Reengineering Project, this initiative integrates the R&D momentum of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering and relevant departments within the College of Engineering. By synthesizing cutting-edge technologies in UAVs and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the project aims to bolster domestic UAV manufacturing capabilities and advanced aircraft maintenance expertise.
UAV technology and its applications represent a highly integrated high-tech industry, requiring the convergence of critical technologies such as microcomputer systems, information and communications technology (ICT), AI, Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), electric power applications, and mechatronic integration. Through comprehensive curriculum planning and program integration, the project optimizes teaching environments and industrial connectivity.
Furthermore, this project systematically integrates fundamental theories with applied technologies. By combining the local intelligent UAV R&D cluster with innovative aviation maintenance training venues, we aim to cultivate professional technical talent for intelligent UAV applications and foster deep-rooted industry-academia collaboration. Aligned with the current status of the UAV industry, this project provides specialized R&D and technical manpower, actively expands linkages with related application industries, and promotes industry-university cooperation and technology transfer to address the urgent domestic demand for high-quality technical personnel in the UAV sector.
